Omnium Gatherum
I’ve listened to a couple King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard albums but so far this one takes the cake. I’ve had it on for the past couple days which is the biggest sign that an album has really clicked with me.
These guys are known for their huge catalog and really wide genre range, and this album showcases that perfectly. Each song is something completely new with even some thrash metal and hip hop moments that come at you from nowhere. I imagine that’s something that not everyone will love, but for me it makes for such a fun listen. The entire thing clocks in at 1 hour 20 minutes but manages to feel much shorter than that. I’ve listened to 40 minute albums that feel longer than this one.
Another album of theirs I enjoy is Nonagon Infinity, which is funny because it feels polar opposite to Omnium Gatherum. Each song on that album flows in such a way that the entire thing feels like one continuous song that loops endlessly. I’m definitely feeling the need to check out more of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Looking at their discography I can tell I’ve got my work cut out for me!
